Interpopulation variation in seed traits of five Polygonaceae

چکیده

Interpopulation variability in seed traits may drive the regeneration capacity of a species to colonize different environments. In present study, we evaluated variation physical (mass / size, water imbibition, shape index) and physiological (germination) five Polygonaceae species. Seeds Polygonum lapathifolium var. salicifolium , P. Reynoutria japonica Rumex trisetifer R. obtusifolius were collected from two or three populations Jiujiang, China. Physical measured before germination tests conducted under combinations light temperatures. Most had significant traits, although are geographically close. appeared be species-specific, with highest for lowest seeds. Germination response temperature conditions also varied among populations, being mostly inhibited dark treatments. The dependence can related small except round-seeded depending on regime. Optimal ranges mainly 10/20°C 25/35°C, decreases percentage at both coolest warmest extremes. requirements seem altitudinal gradients

Interpopulation variation in allelopathic traits informs restoration of invaded landscapes

Invasive species can show substantial genetic variation in ecologically important traits, across ranges as well within the introduced range. If these traits affect competition with native species, then management may benefit from considering the genetic landscape of the invader. Across their introduced range, Alliaria petiolata populations vary in their investment in allelopathic traits accordi...

Genetic Variation of Seed Related Traits in Festuca arundinacea Using Multivariate Statistical Methods

Genetic diversity is the basis of breeding studies in many plant species and is one of the most important indicators for selecting parents. The aim of this experiment was to investigate the genetic diversity of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea) using agronomic traits such as plant height, spring growth score, days to flowering, days to pollination, flag leaf length and width, panicle length, we...

Variation of meat quality traits among five genotypes of chicken.

The main objective of this study was to examine the diversity of meat quality traits among 5 chicken genotypes. The genotypes included 2 Chinese native breeds (Wenchang,WCH, and Xianju), 1 commercial broiler line (Avian, AV), 1 commercial layer line (Hy-Line Brown, HLB), and 1 Chinese commercial broiler line (Lingnanhuang, LNH) synthesized by exotic and native breeds, which were slaughtered at ...

Morphological Variation in Leaf Dissection of Rheum palmatum Complex (Polygonaceae)

AIMS Rheum palmatum complex comprises all taxa within section Palmata in the genus Rheum, including R. officinale, R. palmatum, R. tanguticum, R. tanguticum var. liupanshanense and R. laciniatum. The identification of the taxa in section Palmata is based primarily on the degree of leaf blade dissection and the shape of the lobes; however, difficulties in species identification may arise from th...

Clinal variation in seed traits influencing life cycle timing in Arabidopsis thaliana.

Early life-history transitions are crucial determinants of lifetime survival and fecundity. Adaptive evolution in early life-history traits involves a complex interplay between the developing plant and its current and future environments. We examined the plant's earliest life-history traits, dissecting an integrated suite of pregermination processes: primary dormancy, thermal induction of secon...
